Maya Angelou was a female activist who represented to the vast afro American. In this poem she tells the black American as the caged bird and White American as the free bird. She symbolises that even after getting slavery 100 years back abolished the black still does not get any hope of their freedom from the white American. The white get all comfort of life whereas the black do not get any possibility to use their talents. But at last she completes the poem with a positive note and hope the best like the caged bird
