Assam movement :
- a similar but much stronger demand for autonomy was also taking place in Assam in the rate 1976 general feeling of unhappiness was transformed into social movement besides culture and demographics there was also an economic dimension the political transition did not resolve the long-term problems which give rise to the moment

Punjab movement:
- the moment was laid for autonomy of the state here to the difference in language and religion religion of the dominant population became a point of mobilization it was believed that the state has issued and unfair bargain when it was created punjab claimed new capital more water and greater requirement of Sikhs in the army they demanded to amend the constitution to give more power storage states and ensure greater decentralization of powers the government used very harsh methods for the supression of military in Punjab many of which were seen as violation of constitutional rights of citizen
challenges:
- such violations of constitutional rights and human rights were justified as the constitutional machinery was on the edge of collapse due to military activity
- even judiciary is also of rate of passing members judgements on military militants for fear of reprisals by them
- it developed into a comple inter-community conflict in a very sensitive area
