Answer:

a) Soaps contain bases like potassium hydroxide and sodium hydroxide in it. Since bases are slippery to touch, so soaps feel slippery.

b) Compared with zinc-carbon batteries of the Leclanché cell or zinc chloride types, alkaline batteries have a higher energy density and longer shelf life, yet provide the same voltage. Other battery systems also use alkaline electrolytes, but they use different active materials for the electrodes.

c) It is highly recommended by scientists and researchers that acids and bases must be handled with care. These substances are highly volatile and can react easily with your skin and cause damage to your skin that can not be undone.

d) Antacids work by counteracting (neutralising) the acid in your stomach. They do this because the chemicals in antacids are bases (alkalis) which are the opposite of acids. A reaction between an acid and a base is called neutralisation. This neutralisation makes the stomach contents less corrosive.

e) This is because they contain citric acid, which is a weak organic acid found in many fruits and vegetables. True to their name, citrus fruits have particularly high concentrations of citric acid. When you bite into a lemon, the citric acid activates taste buds along the sides and centre of your tongue.
