I tend to think that if one wanted to apply Mozart's own life and predicament to the Seth poem, I see him as a nightingale figure.  The idea that the nightingale enters a garden and sings to a level that no one could previously fathom or comprehend as being possible is representative of Mozart's genius.  His entrance onto the musical scene was never fully appreciated because it was beyond his time.  The meticulous and precise nature with which he appropriated his music and ensured that his musical compositions were assembled were beyond any of his contemporaries.  By any standard, Mozart could be seen as ahead of his time and it is here where he would have to be seen as the force of the nightingale.  Adding to this would be the fact that like the nightingale, Mozart's voice "died" out far too quickly.  His entrance on the musical scene of the time period was almost as quick as his exit, never being able to linger to enjoy the fruits of his labor.  I have a tough time seeing him as the frog, who was more mediocre in musical talents and possessed staying power in the bog after the nightingale's talent and life have expired.  For these reasons, I think that Mozart could be seen as a nightingale figure, which makes sense given his overall place in Western music.
