compare the structures of purines and pyrimidines. can you find out why the distance between the two polynucleotide chain in DNA remains almost constant?

purine are adenine and guanine
while pyarmidine is thymine cytosine and uracil
they very in their double ring and single ring structure respectively
it's distance always const bcz of the hydrogen bond between them
but G_C is more closer than A T
