Tax from the land was a major source of revenue for the kings and emperors from ancient times. But the ownership pattern of land had witnessed changes over centuries. During Kingship, land was divided into Jagirs, Jagirs were alloted to Jagirdars, these Jagirdars split the land they got and allocated to sub-ordinate Zamindars.

In this treaty British get the diwani (tax collection) of Bangal Bihar and Odisha. some revenue systems are _ Ijaradari system which is introduced by Warren hasting in 1772 but this revenue collection was not success.. tell some other revenues are introduce_ the permanent settlement which is introduced by lord Cornwallis in 1793 e it is also known as zamindari bandobast in Bengal Bihar and Orissa. ryotwari system which is introduced by Thomas Munro in 1820 e which is introduced in Bombay and Madras presidency , this system is also known as Munro system because it is introduced by Thomas Munro. mahalwari mahalwari system which is introduced by Holt Mackenzie in 1822 in this system the revenue is collected by the group of village which is known as mahal.
