The comparison between the two houses of the Parliament are as follows: I)The lower house consists of representatives elected Directly on the basis of Universal adult franchise. Whereas the upper house members represents the states and union territories. ii) The lower house resides the will of people whereas the upper house reflects the interests of the states they represent in the Parliament. iii) The maximum membership of The Lower house is 550 whereas the membership of the Upper house is 250. iv) The eligible age criteria to be a member of The Lower House must be atleast 25 years whereas the eligible age criteria to be a member of the upper house must be 30 years. v)The normal term of the Lok Sabha is 5 years and can be dissolved whereas the Rajya Sabha is a permanent house and cannot be dissolved.

It is bicameral with two houses: the Rajya Sabha (Council of states) and the Lok Sabha ( House of the People). The President in his role as role of legislature has full powers to summon and prorogue either house of Parliament or to dissolve Lok Sabha. The reason why Lok Sabha is more powerful than Rajya Sabha.
