The melting of a substance is a reversible process and involve physical change but when a substance is set on fire the change is chemical change.

  • When a substance melts than it states only change from solid to liquid which can be back to solid by solidification process. So, it is a physical change.
  • When a substance is set on fire then the substance starts to burn and the new formed substance is chemically different from the first one so, it is a chemical change.
