Very high temperature experienced in lower latitude so air starts to rise. That leads to low atmospheric pressure.

Answer:

Because of cold

the molecules of air contract→ density increses→ air becomes heavy.

As you can see in the above flowchart , the air becomes heavy and settles close to earth, so high pressure area is created.

Because of heat

the molecules of air expand→density decreases→ air becomes lighter.

As you can see in the above flowchart, the air becomes lighter and rises up, creating a low pressure area.
