Mineral water is water that comes out of the ground naturally and is considered healthy...
Explanation:
RO Water
This is Raw Water Treated through a particular process called Reverse Osmosis. This is pressure filtration method to screen out very very fine particals present in water through a fine membrane.
Mineral Water
Actual Mineral Water doesnt require any treatment besides removal of turbidity & odour. The water from springs, live streams etc.
Mineral Water in general sense
When we buy bottled water as “Mineral Water”, we mean purified, treated Bottled Water. But it is actually, technically called as “Packaged Drinking Water”. B.I.S. [1]has a separate standard for it.
In colloqual sense, R.O. Water & Mineral Water can be same, as it’s the purest form of water, filtered through the R.O. Membrane, which filters out the finest Bacteria & TDS as well.
For house or for own consumption (without sale) we can install an R.O. System without the BIS specified items such as ozonation (though it enhances life) or added minerals. Hence the design of the RO system for this is different & simpler than that for an BIS approved plant, through which you can sell the Packaged Water, which is called as “Packaged Drinking Water” (The source water is Borewell usually). Other variety is “Packaged Mineral Water” (The source water is Natural springs water)
