Comparison of the poems Any women and The toys
Answers
The poem ‘Any woman’ was written by Katharine Tynan. In the poem, she describes the role of a woman in building up a home. A woman is like the pillars of the house. She is the one who gives warmth to her children and gives shape to the home.
‘The Toys’ is a poem written by Coventry Patmore. This poem is a description of the pain of a father who finds it difficult to grow his son. As a father, he corrects the child, but there would be no one to comfort him as the child’s mother is dead. The father finds him sleeping with tears and his room filled with other things that would take his pain away.
In either of the poems, the importance of women is directly or indirectly portrayed. While in ‘Any Woman’ the role of women present at home is portrayed and in ‘The Toys’, the author portrays how bad the situations might keep turning to be in the absence of a woman in building up a home.
