Blenheim is a Ballard form of poem written by Robert Southey.
This poem features an old man who is the resident of Blenheim he narrates the incident of the horrors of war to his grandchildren and named willhelmine and Peterkin. He says that the war was fought between the English and French and remarks the war as the famous and great with three although he didn't knew what good came out of the war but always like apparently Resited as the famous and a great victory.
The poem even shows that due to the horrors of the war many child and mother had died and thousands of the bodies lay rotting in the sun and even the narrator that is the old Kaspar said that his father was forced to flee with his family and his house was burnt down.
Old Casper's grandchildren could not make out that what could the what good did the war did to Blenheim due to lot of generation gap which existed between the three....but for Kaspar these things happen in a war to gain victory.
Old man at the bridge is the very emotional story it tells about a rim faced old man who is forced to leave his animals in San Carlos by the army. He leave Høme his three animals that is the four pair of pigeons a cat and 2 goats. The piegeons are symbol of peace and harmony whereas the old man and the goats are symbol of sacrifice.
The bridge in the story symbolises two things one that it is the meet of the two cities And others where the old man can happily lead his rest life in Barcelona crossing the bridge by leaving his animal. But later he thinks that a cat is a self animal and can take Care of itself whereas he is worried of his pigeons and goats...he always recieted to the general that "I was taking care of my animals ". He is a very emotional and animal loving person and don't support wars as they cause lot of destruction to human n property he is a man without politics a 72 aged man.
