Explanation:

Compassion and kindness can significantly reduce pain and suffering. To think about others, to do good deeds without any selfish reason, to help others can really make this world a beautiful place to live in.

Like in the story, The Happy Prince, the Prince never knew sorrow and misery until he died and his statue was placed on a tall column from where he could see how his kingdom actually lived.

People were poor to the point where they couldn't even afford food to fill their stomachs and fire to keep them warm. There the Happy Prince showed kindness and compassion. He felt for them, he cried for them, and that's where the swallow came in to help. Together the duo helped people get food and keep warm. In that winter season they felt the warmth of happiness one gets out of helping others. They sympathised with the people. Once the Prince gave away both his sapphire eyes and became blind the swallow decided to stay with him forever. The swallow died because of the extreme cold and even the statue of Happy Prince cracked......

Because of compassion and kindness of a statue and a bird, the people of that city could know what happiness was, what being full meant and how being warm felt.

Answer:

It is true that with compassion and kindness we can reduce suffering and pain in the world. The prince showed compassion for the one's who were in trouble or fighting immense poverty. He was kind enough to donate all his precious possessions to those in need, as he had no use of it. This brought happiness among people and reduced the sufferings around him. If one person can make this change, then if everyone follows this, we can significantly reduce misery.
