Complementary and non complementary reactions

The question seems to be incomplete and so, I am assuming that the question is about the differences in between Complementary and non-complementary reactions.

Complementary reactions are a kind of redox reactions where the oxidant and reductant tend to change their oxidation states. This change happens by an equal number of units. In these types of reactions, it requires only one molecule of each of the reactants to react.

Non-complementary reactions are those kinds of redox reactions in which the oxidation state of most of the reactants tends to change by different amount of units. These reactions require different numbers of molecules of the reductant and the oxidant to react to give a stoichiometric equation.

It seems that this question is not complete, but I am thinking of it as:

There are two types of electron transfer reactions.

1. Complementary reactions:
The oxidant and reductant change their oxidation state by an equal number of units. These are termed as complementary electron transfer reactions.

2. Non-complementary reactions:
The oxidant and the reductant change their oxidation states by a different number of units. These are termed as non-complementary electron transfer reactions.

Hope this will help you.
