Complete the following activity to solve the following simultaneous equations 3x + 2y = 6 and 2x + 4y = 12 by Cramer's rule.
Activity : D = |3/2 2/4| = 8
Dx = |6/12 2/4| =?
Dy = |3/2 6/12|=? therefore x = and y =?

ANSWER

D=∣∣∣∣∣∣3224∣∣∣∣∣∣=12−4=8

Dx=∣∣∣∣∣∣61224∣∣∣∣∣∣=24−24=0

Dy=∣∣∣∣∣∣32612∣∣∣∣∣∣=36−12=24

x=DDx=80=0

y=DDy=824=3

Therefore (x,y) = (0,3)

Answer:

if,3x+2y=6 equation 1

2x+4y=12 equation2

then, multiply the equation 1 by 2

According to question

6x+4y=12 and 2x+4y=12

from equation 1 - equation2

6x+4y=12

2x+4y=12

then, 3x=0

x=0/3

x=0

putting the value of x in equation 1

3x+2y=6

3×0+2y=6

0+2y=6

y=6/2

y=3

so,x=0 and y=3
