1)A body of mass 1 kg undergoes a change of velocity of 4m/s in 4s what is the force acting on it?

2.If you apply a net force of 3 N on .1 kg-box, what is the acceleration of the box

3. Calculate the force exerted by the brakes on the motorcar which is moving with a velocity of 72 km/h and takes 5 s to stop after the application of brakes. Mass of the motorcar along with the passengers is 800 kg.

Given : A body of mass 1 kg undergoes a change of velocity of 4m/s in 4s

To Find :  force acting on it

Solution:

F= ma

F = Force

m = mass = 1  kg

a = acceleration

a = dv/dt

change of velocity of 4m/s in 4s

a = 4/4  = 1  m/s²

F = 1 * 1 = 1 N

Hence Force acting is 1 N.

a net force of 3 N on .1 kg-box,

a = 3/1  = 3  m/s²

72 km/h  = 72 * 1000 / 3600  = 20 m/s

a = ( 0 - 20)/5  = - 4 m/s²

m = 800 kg

Force exerted by brakes =  800 * 4 = 3200 N
