The name of the Mughal King was removed from the coins minted by the Company because they wanted to end the influence and power of the Mughals.

East India Company wanted to bring an end to the Mughal dynasty and for that, they took the following steps -

  1. They removed the name of the Mughal Emperor from the coins minted by the company.
  2. They declared that Bahadur Shah Zafar is going to be the last Mughal Emperor and after his death, all of his sons will be called princes and not Emperors.
  3. They relocated the royal Mughal family from the Red Fort and gave them another place of residence in Delhi.

All this was done to bring an end to the Mughal Rule and establish total control over India.
