Luni is not a perennial river. It is a seasonal river.

As the south west monsoon wind passes in parallel way to the Aravalli range of Rajasthan it cannot give any rain to the place as rain only takes place when a monsoon wind faces any resistance. But while passing over Rajasthan the south west monsoon wind contains huge amount of moisture. Henceforth Luni which is a seasonal river does not receive any rain and disappear into the sand.
