Rohini went to Goa for a vacation, deciding she had worked hard enough. In the mood for a boat ride in the sunset, returning when the moon shone brightly in the black canvas they called the night sky splattered with stars, she walked barefoot to the beach. Reaching her destination, she was furious to see people snatching the eggs from the burrows in the sand, some turtles desperately trying to reach them and save their eggs. Anger took over her as she called out without any hesitance or whatsoever. "Hey!", she yelled, her voice loud enough to not drown in the sound of the waves crashing, startling the two men.
She walked over to them, a stern expression smeared over her features, her phone in her hand, ready to call the police if needed, "What do you think you're doing? Put those eggs down gently before-" "We have permission to be here, missy", she was interrupted rather rudely by the first man in a cap, who was clearly bluffing. She could see his eyes looking over. He was looking for people that might come over to see what the commotion was about. 'Excellent', she thought to herself. She could confirm her suspicious about the man bluffing.
She waved her second phone in their faces, smirking as their eyes fell on the video that showed them removing the eggs. She wouldn't admit it, but she enjoyed herself as their faces paled at the sight of it. "Are you sure you have permission? I was so sure I saw a sign that clearly forbid anyone from going near their nests..Should I check with the police? So all of us could clear our doubts, of course!" The men put the bags down and broke into a sprint immediately, saying something about "they forgot they have something to do".
Rohini stared at their shrinking figures until they were out of sight, before crouching into the sand and gently placing the eggs back into the burrows. Once finished, she stepped away to calm the anxieties of the approaching turtles, and turned to walk around the beach as it was too late for a boat ride. She dipped her feet into the water, placing herself comfortably on the sand while staring at the setting sun. She let out a content sigh, a small smile growing onto her face. She would be able to sleep peacefully tonight, she just knew it.
