\implies When an acid is added to water, it forms corresponding salt ion and \mathsf{H^+} or \mathsf{H_3O^+} ion.

Here, \mathsf{H_3O^+} = Hydronium ion.

\mathsf{H^+} and \mathsf{H_3O^+} are same.

For example :

When acetic acid reacts with water, it forms acetate ion and Hydronium ion.

Reaction is as follows :

\mathsf{CH_3COOH \ + \ H_2O} \rightarrow \mathsf{CH_3COO^- \ + \ H_3O^+}

Here, Acetic acid is an acid, So water acts as a base and acetic acid donate a proton i.e. \mathsf{H^+} and this \mathsf{H^+} is taken by the water to form Hydronium ion.

\mathsf{H_2O \ + \ H^+} \rightarrow \mathsf{H_3O^+}

From here, we developed a concept that \mathsf{H^+} and \mathsf{H_3O^+} are same.

Hence, we can say that when acid is added in water, hydrogen ion ___increases___.

So,

Option A. is correct.
