Solution:

2 + (1^2 - 1) = 2

2 + (2^2 - 1) = 5

5 + (3^2 - 1) = 13

13 + (4^2 - 1) = 28

Same procedure as follows we get,

28 + (5^2 - 1) = 52

The next term is 52.
