As we go through the series from left to right difference between first and second number is of 7, difference between second and third number is of 6, difference between third and fourth number is of 5 it means between numbers difference from left to right decreases by 1.
By this pattern of the series after 77 next number will be 74 e.g. difference of 3. So the series will be

As we can see in the series that the difference between the first and the second number from left is 7 (99 - 92 = 7), difference between the second and the third number is 6 (92 - 86 = 6), difference between the third and the fourth number is 5 (86 - 81 = 5), difference between the fourth number and the fifth number is 4 (81 - 77 = 4). It clearly shows that the difference between numbers from left to right is decreasing by 1. 
Therefore, the according to this pattern after 77, the next number in the given series will be 74 because difference between 77 and 74 is 3 The difference is decreased by 1 as compared to the previous difference (81 - 77 = 4).
