Complete the story:

The hare laughed at the slow moving tortoise - the tortoise not at all ashamed of
his slow pace - retorted that he could beat the hare in a race - agreed -
the hare went away in lighting leaps - the tortoise went slowly after him - the
hare confident - had a nap - the tortoise went on and on - reached the winning
post first - the hare beaten in the race.​

HARE AND THE TORTOISE.

A certain Hare who was very proud of his speed as runner, once laughed at the tortoise who crept slowly on the ground, 'you slow! old creature', he cried. Can't you go any faster than that? 'I may be slow' said that tortoise, but I could beat you in a race. Laughed the hare. Old tortoise will beat me in a race? yes! said the tortoise. "I will beat you" if it were not silly for a hare with the tortoise, I would soon show you said the hare. 'You are afraid' said the tortoise, Very well!! said the hare, we will have a race.

They decided to run for half a mile or so to a certain tree which served as a winning post the crow started them.

Off went the hare in leaps and bounds while the tortoise plodded along, never stopping, never looking back. So the swift hare outran the tortoise to such a length that made a jest off the matter. Laughed the Hare, as he stopped hal way to look back at the slow tortoise. There is no need for me to run so fast, thought the Hare. I qill lie down. Then qhen the tortoise come creeping up to the place, where he slept. And the sleeping Hare went the tortoise, sloqly and steadily never looking behind him.

Presently the Hare awoke and sprang up ready to run on like the wind. 'Where are you? old slow one?' he cried, racing towards the winning post like a streak of lightning. Here I'm, said the tortoise. 'I won' said the tortoise with a lot excitement. The Hare was ashamed f himself. He accepted his mistake.

Moral: Slow and steady wins the race.
