Two friends travelling along a busy road when they stumbled across a small bag. "Hey! look", George exclaimed as he called for Peter who was several feet behind him.
"Don't touch that, mother says we should never pick up things which don't belong to us", he answered. As Peter scanned the little bag in George's hands, he realized that his mother would be waiting for him at home.
George continuing to look at the bag, analyzed its color and size as he bounced it up and down to check how much it weighed, when Peter screamed to get George's attention.
Looking at his best friends expression, George started walking with him while bouncing the little bag in his hand. The bag was a small one, weighing a few pounds with a clinging voice coming from it when bounced.
"It's not ours", Peter stated. " We better loose it before someone comes looking for it and thinks that we stole it".
Peter was always worried about the simplest of things. George opened the little sack and saw that it was filled with gold coins. Peter was as spell bound as George to find a sack full of precious coins.
George handed it to Peter saying, " Take it home, you can use to buy medicines for your father". Peter looked at the coins and thought about his poor, ill father. Tear's welled up in his eyes as he handed George the bag, saying that it didn't belong to him.
They were both walking silently as a merchant's cart passed by. Tied to the rear of the cart were similar looking bags. Peter stopped the merchant and asked him whether he'd lost one of his bags. In astonishment the merchant answered, "Yes, I have, did you see it anywhere boy?".
With a smiling face Peter returned him the bag and as a reward the merchant gave him half of the gold coins from that bag.
