Sher-e-Bangla is one of Bangladesh's most famous leaders. He was born in 1873 in Chakhar, Barisal. His father Mohammad Wazed Ali was a prominent lawyer. She passed the Entrance Examination and went to Kolkata to pursue higher studies. At the age of 22, he passed his MA and was placed in the first grade. Two years later, he graduated from BL with distinction and joined the bar. At the age of 33, he was appointed deputy magistrate. He resigned in 1912 because of disagreements with the government. In 1913, he became a member of the Council of Bengali. In 1915, he narrowly defeated Khawaja Nazimuddin in the Patuakhali election. In 1918, he was made general secretary of the Indian Congress. That same year he was made president of the All India Muslim League. He was the Prime Minister of Bengal. On March 23, 1940, he made a submission to his historic decision in Pakistan at the Lahore Conference of Muslim League. In 1924, he established several educational institutions in Bengal as Minister of Education. He was the Mayor of Kolkata Corporation in 1935-1936. In 1937, he became the first elected Prime Minister of Bengal. He led the United Front in East Pakistan's national elections until 1958. He died at the age of 89. The people of Bangladesh remember him with gratitude.
