Winnowing- The method is used to separate lighter husk from heavier Grains ones by Wind. for e.g. wheat from husk.

Threshing- This method is generally used by farmers to separate the grains from the stalks after Harvesting. The dried stalks are beaten, Or threshed, to separate the grains.In Large farms it is done by machines, called threshers. For e.g.- rice or grain crops.
Sieving-A method, used to separate the different sized components of a mixture, by using an appropriate sieve. For e.g.- at home wheat flour from coarse particles, at construction sites sand from gravel and pebbles.
