My dear Mim ,
I hope this letter finds you in your best spirit. I'm writing this letter in order to tell you about my online class. Yesterday was my first class of English and that was really fantastic I learnt a lot things from the class. The topic for yesterday's class was modals. In class I learnt about the definition of modals and their various uses in sentences. I want to share about models with you also so that you can also learn about this .
Literally a modal auxiliary is a helping verb which is used with the main work to express the attitude of the speaker. There are various modals like can , could , may , might, ought to , must , have etc . These expresses the moods like request, determination, warning, polite request ,order and permission.
Let me explain you this by using some examples
Like if you have the capacity of doing anything then you use the word can. Example - I can swim . I can lift this box.
If you want to formal permission then you use the word that we commonly used in our day to day life . Example - while seeking permission from teacher. May I come in .
If you want to show a little possibility of anything then you can use the word might .
Example - There are no clouds it might rain tomorrow.
I'm attaching the notes of practice exercise of models with the letter hope it will help you.
With regards.
