The advice not taken…

“So dear, which stream will you be choosing in 11th grade?” His aunt asked.

“Well I am interested in history so that is what I’ll be pursuing as my carrier aunty.” He replied.

“Are you kidding me? You will be studying history? Dear there is no scope in that subject in future. You are such a good student, how can you take such an easy subject? These subjects are for losers students.” His aunt was shocked at his revelation.

“Aunty, I will study the subject that I like, its that simple.” He replied calmly.

“Well, whatever you might say, my suggestion would be that you take science. You are a boy and will be responsible for your family in future and for that you need a good job. You can only make a good fortune if you study science.”

“Well… lets see to it in future.” He said through gritted teeth.

“Its just an advice, I have experience dear.”

As he recalled that conversation taken place about thirty years ago, a smile made its way to his face. Today he was a professor of history at Oxford University, one of the best universities in the world. He was not just wealthy but also extremely happy as his profession gave him a satisfaction that nothing else could. He remembered how doubtful he was at that time but now it has all changed. He thanked God for not being carried away by his aunt’s advice.

He whispered happily “Advice not taken.”

ANSWER

It was raining hard that night. In my hurry to get into the house, I didn't notice the black car parked across the road. I realized something was wrong when I could see someone hovering around the car. I wasn't sure if it was safe to go to the car to investigate but my instincts dragged me from the gate of my building to across the road and next to the car. What happened in that half an hour is what I call my most unforgettable memory.

I could see a man pacing up and down, drenched and injured. At first when I saw him, he looked inebriated as he was losing his balance now and then. But as I went near him, I was sure it was the injury and not any substance that was causing him to tip.
