Compound pbO is more stable than pbo2  why?​

Answer :-

In Pb +2 oxidation state in less stable than +4 state due to inert pair effect that's why PbO is More stable than PbO2. Inert pair effect increases down the group and in C-family reaching till Pb, +4 state is not stable because of very poor shielding of f-orbitals.

PbO is much more stable than PbO2 due to inert pair effect. ... And we know that Pb in PbO is in +2 oxidation state and in PbO2, it is in +4 oxidation state. This is the reason, PbO2 decomposes readily to PbO to attain stability........
