compound (R), C4H10O reacts with Na but undergoes no reaction with Lucas reagent at 25degree c . It reacts with concentrated H2SO4 to give (S) C4H3.compound (S) undergoes hydration with dilute H2SO4 to give (T) ,C4H9OH compound (T) reacts rapidly with Lucas reagent .What are the compounds R,S and T?

Answer:
Alcohols react with metallic sodium but with Lucas' reagent, no visible reaction at room temperature and thus, (A) would be primary alcohol, 1−Butanol.
Dehydration reaction of butanol$ takes place when treated with H2SO4 and an alkene is formed i.e. Butene.
When alkene again hydrated it forms alcohol. which is almost inert to metallic sodium but reacts rapidly with Lucas reagent.
