 \textbf{\huge{Hallo! }}

✔The compound X is \color{red}{Calcium\:Carbonate }

✔The gas Y is carbon dioxide \color{red}{Carbon } \color{red}{Dioxide }

↘Calcium carbonate(limestone)decomposes to give calcium oxide (quick lime) and Carbon dioxide.

The equation for the reaction is,

CaCO₃ ------------->CaO + CO₂

↘When Carbon dioxide is passed through lime water(Calcium Hydroxide), lime water turns milky.

The equation for the reaction is,

CO₂ + Ca(OH)₂ -------------> CaCO₃↓ + H₂O.

↘It turns milky because of the formation of Precipitate of insoluble Calcium Carbonate.
