because it is electron deficient and have an ability to accept a pair of electron to exhibits stable electronic configuration.

As having 3 electrons in outermost shell , so even after making 3 covalent bonds they have 6 electrons instead 8 (noble gas configuration) so they are willing to take more electrons hence are Lewis acids
