Compounds such as alcohols and glucose also contain hydrogen but are not categorized as acids. Describe with an activity.

acid have some properties like when they are treated with base they give salt.
glucose and alcohol too have H atom and also have some acidic properties but not upto that level so we can classify them as acids.

ACTIVITY :−

  • Take 3 Beakers
  • Name The Beakers as A , B & C
  • Take HCL in beaker A , alcohol in beaker B & glucose in beaker C
  • Make a electric circuit. Connect the wire with 3 beakers.
  • Beaker, in which, the bulb glows, that Beaker contain acid because acids complete disassociates into water to form H+ & OH- ions which conducts electricity.
  • This activity prove that the electricity passes through completely ionised liquids are acids.
