Compounds such as alcohols and glucose also contain hydrogen but are not categorized as acids.Describe an activity to prove it.

it is because they don't have replaceable hydrogen ions whereas acids contain replaceable h2 ions.

ACTIVITY :-

  • Take 3 Beakers
  • Name The Beakers as A , B & C
  • Take HCL in beaker A , alcohol in beaker B & glucose in beaker C
  • Make a electric circuit. Connect the wire with 3 beakers.
  • Beaker, in which, the bulb glows, that Beaker contain acid because acids complete disassociates into water to form H+ & OH- ions which conducts electricity.
  • This activity prove that the electricity passes through completely ionised liquids are acids.
