The parakeet's cage was kept at one end of a long veranda of Granny's bungalow in North India.

2 ) Aunt Ruby brought the parrot from a bird catcher who visited all the houses on their road.

3 ) Her Grandfather and Grandmother were not so comfortable with idea of having a caged birds as pets. They were of the view that keeping birds caged would deprive them of their freedom.

5 ) She once tried to kiss the bird by bringing her face close to the bars of the cage. But the bird disliked her act and backed off on the fear of being kissed by her. In anger she turned her beady eyes even smaller. ... This incident led Aunt Ruby to become hostile towards the bird.
