Given:

The edge length of larger cube= 12cm

Color on adjacent sides = Green and yellow

Color on opposite side= Blue

The edge length of smaller cubes = 4cm

To find:

Number of smaller cubes with zero faces painted

Solution:

Let the number of smaller cubes x.

Since volume is conserved before and after cutting,

L³ = x X l³

or x = 12³ / 4³  = 27

So the larger cube is cut like a Rubix cube.

26 cubes are on the faces and 1 in the center. So, the center cube is the only cube having 0 painted faces.

Hence, there is only one small cube with 0 painted faces.
