These questions are all a part if the famous novel talked great expectations. The first answer for this will be that Pip was actually searching for Joe and trying to find out where he was.
The second answer ie figure of speech used here is pun. it has been used to explain that Pip had been brought up there quite carefully.
The third answer about tickler is that he was a cane used to bring Pip back into discipline.
All people are warned by a cannon being fired.
Hulks were the prisons where accused were kept.
Pip thought that the second companion was mysterious and he was with the first companion.
