Compute the weight of a piece of lumber 400 mm by 600 mm, 6 m long, if the lumber weights 960 kg/cubic meter.

Solution :-

We know that,

  • 1 m = 1000 mm

So,

→ Length of piece of lumber = 6 m

→ Breadth = 600/1000 = 0.6 m

→ Height = 400/1000 = 0.4 m

then,

→ Volume of piece of lumber = L * B * H = 0.6 * 0.4 * 6 = 1.44 m³ .

now,

→ 1m³ lumber weights = 960 kg

→ Total volume weights = 960 * 1.44 = 1382.4 kg (Ans.)

Hence, the weight of a piece of lumber is equal to 1382.4 kg .
