Secondary storage devices are used to store (data ) information, permanently. It is Non - Volatile in nature. CD(Compact Disk), DVD(Digital Versatile Device), Floppy disk, Hard disk, etc. are the secondary storage devices.

Hard disk : It is a magnetic disk has to be mounted on a disk drive before it can be used for reading or writing of information.
It is used to store large size of application programs or files. It provide larger storage capacities and much faster access times than floppy disk.

Floppy disk: It is used 1980's and early 2000's. It comes in three sizes : 8- inches, 5.5 inches and 3.5 inches.
The capacity of floppy disks are vary between 1 to 2.50 MB and these devices were very slow, reading data at rates of bytes and KB/s. However, most are very small and portable.

CD : It is small, portable, round medium made of molded polymer for electrically recording, storing, and play audio, video, text, etc.

DVD : Its storage capacity is 4.7 GB, but it can carry two layers of data on each of its two sides, thus it can hold up to 18 GB.

Secondary storage devices are those devices which can be attached to any electronic device like PC, androids, tabs etc..... They are used for storing a large amount of data..... As their name is secondary storage device, it means the second option for storing data........ For eg. ===>>> Pendrives, CD's etc...Pendrives are connected to androids and tabs with the help of OTG cable and in computers and laptop , it can be inserted directly. ........... Secondary storage devices are Non - Volatile in nature which means that the data stored in it can't be lost if there is a power cut....
