Dehydrating agents remove water which is chemically bound to a substance for e.g water of crystallization. While on the other hand a drying agent simply removes excess water present in a substance which is not chemically bound to it.
Dehydrating agents remove water which is chemically bound to a substance for e.g water of crystallization. While on the other hand a drying agent simply removes excess water present in a substance which is not chemically bound to it.It readily removes elements of water from other compounds i.e, it acts as a dehydrating agent, it being a hygroscopic substance absorb water from other substances without dissolving in it,so it is considered a good drying agent.
