While diluting concentrated acids, we are always advised to add the acid to water and not the reverse.
If we add water to the acid there can be a possibility of the splashing out of the acid due to violent boiling as it is highly exothermic, which may harm our body if we get in contact with it.
Hence conc. H2SO4 is added to water for diluting it.
