Concentration of H+ (aq) ions in a solution is 10^-11 moles/litre. Calculate its pH value. State the action of (i) methyl orange , (ii) phenolphthalein on this solution.​

i)Yellow

ii)Pink

pH = - log([H+])

[H+] = 10^-11 M

pH = - log(10^-11)

pH = - (-11).log(10)

pH = - (-11).1 = 11 [since , log10=1]

Because pH = 11 (7 ≤ pH ≤ 14) the solution is basic in nature..

ii) Turns Pink in Color
