Concentration of H^+ ion and OH^- is 10^{-6}M and 10^{-8}M respectively

Explanation:

pH or pOH is the measure of acidity or alkalinity of a solution.

pH is calculated by taking negative logarithm of hydrogen ion concentration.

pH=-\log [H^+]

NaOH\rightarrow Na^++OH^{-}

According to stoichiometry,

1 mole of NaOH gives=  1 mole of OH^-

Thus 10^{-8} moles of NaOH gives =\frac{1}{1}\times 10^{-8}=10^{-8} moles of OH^-

Putting in the values:

pOH=-\log[10^-8]

pOH=8

pH+pOH=14//pOH=14-8=6

6=-log[H^+]

[H^+]=10^{-6}M

Thus concentration of H^+ ion and OH^- is 10^{-6}M and 10^{-8}M respectively
