Roots take up minerals from soil by active transport where the minerals are taken up by root hairs against the concentration gradient i.e. movement of minerals from a lower concentration gradient to a higher concentration gradient. The process of active transport requires energy. Energy is provided by respiration which occurs in mitochondria present in the root hairs.

Hello Dear,
● Intake of mineral nutrients in plant roots -
- Plant roots take in mineral nutrients from the soil by the process of active transport.
- Active transport is the movement of ions or molecules across a cell membrane into a region of higher concentration.
- The process involves mineral transport against conc gradient & thus requires energy.
- Intake of nutrients in roots from soil is assisted by several enzymes.
Hope this helps you. Keep asking..
