Palampur is an imaginary village. The main occupation of the people here is related to agriculture based activities. 450 families live in palampur out of which 150 families are dalits(or daily wage earners). Only very few people have more than 10 hectares of land. There is a heavy competition between the daily wage earners. That's why, they are forced to work for the large farmers at lower wage than the minimum wage set by the government. People of village palampur are also engaged in non-farming activities too. The major of the activities are shopkeeping, transportation like bullock carts etc., fishing and small scale induistries.
