Both the boys' behavior seemed very innocent and
childlike. Their smile was steady and engaged people in their stare.
They were also jovial and full of energy whenever the author met them.
They were not disguised to act as someone else. This was the reason why
the author calls them both 'childish' and 'artless'. Nicola and Jacopo
were truly called as the two gentlemen as they both were truly
disciplined and noble to the core of their characters.
