Plastic is non-biodegradable. It can take up to 450 to 1000 years to decompose. People have become addicted to plastic. Plastic that sink into the soil does not allow water to enter into earth. When plastic is dumped into land, they release chemicals and degrade the soil and water quality. Plastic is dangerous to birds and animals. People throw food in polythene bags, are eaten by animals and bird. The bags cannot be digested leading them to fatal death. Similarly, plants cannot penetrate their roots into the soil. Therefore, plastic is hazardous to the environment.
