portia was a rich woman whose father had a wish that whoever came to woo her for marriage had to choose the three caskets that were made of gold,silver and lead. All the people who were rich and the generations of the royal family had chosen the wrong casket . Bassanio chose the right casket that was the lead one as the inscription above it read that the person who choses me must give away whatever he wished for and Bassanio was ready to leave anything for portia's love and won over him and soon they married
