the local self government in urban areas is very different from the local self government in rural areas. towns and cities are large in size and a large number of people live here. the task of providing civic amenities such as electricity, clean drinking water, clean and well lit roads etc.  these local bodies are constituted according to the size of a town or city.


different forms of urban local bodies exist depending upon the size and the nature and extent of civic functions.

the forms of urban local bodies are- Nagar Panchayat, Municipality and the Municipal commission
