Rice farming brought profound and lasting effects on China’s economy and politics. It promoted the technology of rice planting and the development of water conservancy, which led to the increasing of rice product, less water disaster and easier and cheap transportation. Also, it caused the southward shift of population and economic center, which urged and established the foundation of the prosperous economy and harmonious society in the southern part of China. With less famine and good economic environment, the health status of the empires were improved, which prolonged the lifespan of the unified dynasty. What’s more, the shift of population made the Central Plain empty and gave the both nomads an opportunity of invasion, which extended the definition of Chinese.
